UPDATE – another protest added! COMMUNITY PROTEST & VIGIL – ICE OUT FOR GOOD! Hyannis (National Protest)

UPDATE: ADDING ANOTHER PROTEST/VIGIL SATURDAY JANUARY 10!!

There was a mobilize event created for today’s ICE out for GOOD, protest/vigil that actually stated it was tomorrow, Sat Jan 10th in error.

It was linked from the info about the protest below in previous emails. It was the mobilize set up by the national movement, thus it was on the national map.

The person who created that sign-up invitation is from Indivisible Upper Cape and has decided to go ahead with a second protest Saturday January 10, 4pm (same time, same place, organized by their group.) 4-4:30 protest 4:30-5 candle light vigil and the tealights we used today will be there for you to use.

This is the link. If you want to go Saturday Jan 10th, please RSVP in case there are any changes or updates.

Again this is not organized by Cape Cod Women for Change and Mid-Cape Indivisible. Any contact can be done via the mobilize link.

This clears up some confusion as several people asked if we were meeting at the same time and place answering,”huh?”

It also gives you a chance to take part in a vigil if you weren’t able to come today!

BRING ICE SIGNS. For safety, please bring FLASHLIGHT if you have one -don’t shine flashlights into traffic – and wear reflective clothing if you have it.

  • What: Emergency Demonstration. Community Vigil
  • When: Friday, Jan 9, 4:00pm-5pm – Protest- 5-5:30 Vigil
  • Where: Hyannis Airport Rotary
  • Who: Cape Cod Women for Change, Mid Cape Indivisible, Indivisible Upper Cape, Coalition for Social Justice, Falmouth Immigrant Rights Coalition, for LUCE

RSVP HERE

UPDATE: For those who are coming today. If you can, bring a flashlight and wear any clothing with reflective tape. We are going to limit our reflective vests to those who are trained in safety. If you are safety trained and are coming, please request a vest, you can still hold a sign etc – it will just mean reflective vests are scattered through the crowd. Some of the national groups have suggested wearing black, but we are on the rotary and we really should not be dressed in all black for traffic safety. If you aren’t vaccinated, it’s being suggested you wear a mask just like any area that has people gathering during flu season. FYI: There will be press and police (for safety) present.

Emergency Demonstration. ICE OUT FOR GOOD. Now a nation-wide protest.

COMMUNITY VIGIL – ICE out of our communities! Stop the Murder, Abductions and Cruelty! LUCE immigrant justice network COMMUNITY VIGIL.

We have 200 battery-operated candles – use ours or bring your own. We have flags and banners, or bring your own ICE themed signs.

Show up and let’s be together in this difficult moment in this difficult time.

We have the right to dream of a better future and we will resist the injustice against our people

The murder of a young mother, partner, daughter and friend to many, who was doing nothing illegal, in front of our eyes. The immediate lies and vilification of the victim coming from The Federal Agencies we cannot trust. We cannot be silenced, We must to speak out, speak up, and remember the victims of violence and ongoing cruelty.

Renee Nicole Good murdered at age 37.

*This a local Indivisible event!

A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

An article recently in The Guardian, a trusted news source, discusses the importance of local protest and visibility.“How effective is protesting? According to historians and political scientists: very” There are so many important points in that article, this is just one, “While legislative shifts and movement-building are important markers of impact, another way to gauge success is by considering how a demonstration affects the lives of its participants. In that sense, Pressman says, “it’s important to broaden the menu of what success and failure look like” by gauging success beyond legislation. For one thing, protesting can improve emotional wellbeing.

**Tim Snyder has said many times now that our local protests are incredibly important. Rachel Maddow reminds us of this each week. Local visibly, local action and gathering together in our communities, are all imperative to make change. Reminding people we are here and watching and ready to act. And that we will VOTE.

NO! WE WILL NOT BE SILENT!!!

Join the crowd! Bring a sign or hold one of our flags, signs or banners. DRESS WARM.

Let’s continue to build community. Let’s be loud and festive. Bring a friend, bring family, grab a neighbor!

We are going to continue the momentum with NO KINGS protests twice a month. This is the first – let’s show the MAGA and Trump we won’t back down. Join us the first and third Saturday from 12 noon – 1pm through the winter!! Get your long johns on and join us for an hour twice a month.

This a local *Indivisible event!

**Please listen if you haven’t yet. Rachel Maddow did a special with Tim Snyder Dec. 12, that was incredible. Tim Snyder told us that we need to continue actions, LOCALLY. That local protests are so important. Showing up for local visibilities are what will change things. This is why Rachel tends to feature local actions on her show and via her Bluesky account. Indivisible has said it will be a couple months before we see another national event and that we need to hold regular local events. So JOIN US!

You can watch the show on some streaming platforms (saw it streaming on Sling) – and you can listen on podcasts on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and Audible, with clips likely on the MSNBC YouTube channel.

  1. Thank you so much for this life-giving work. I missed the notice about last night’s vigil, but I’ll be at the Rotary for today’s demonstration. Peace and good to all of you! ☮️🩵🕊️🪷🐾
