Cape Cod Women for Change will hold meetings now. Want to join us?

(PLEASE NOTE:  We’ve had some cancellations – a couple more seats available.)

After holding leadership meetings last year, we have been in a sort of holding pattern. Most of the options for places to hold meetings cost money and we had no way to legally raise even the small amounts needed for some of the options.

We are now officially registered under the umbrella of the national Indivisible group as a 501(c)(4) and we want to move forward with meetings and events.

First, we are holding a postcard and planning meeting on May 21st from 6:30 to 8:30pm at CapeSpace in Hyannis, mark your calendars and reserve a spot here, space is limited.

Then, in June, we will hold a Cape Cod Women’s Forum with the ACLU and NARAL Prochoice (and possibly one more organization.)  We will invite local candidates who will support our legislation,  and representatives from other Cape Indivisible groups will be there for the first hour so that you can meet and speak with them.

For our May 21 meeting,  we will fill out and postcards to send to legislators asking them to vote for state legislation we support,  from gun safety to eliminating archaic language in MA laws (like unmarried women cannot purchase contraception, yes that language is still in MA laws!) and to send to Congress in opposition to bills that would relax gun laws.

The issues are constantly changing and we will have postcards for the most relevant bills and actions.

The planning part of the meeting will include:

  • Preparing for a women’s forum we have just confirmed for June 21st with the ACLU and NARAL Pro-Choice MA – and more. We welcome volunteers to help with organizing and set up.
  • Discussion about some future work we will be doing with Planned Parenthood
  • Discussions about the upcoming elections
  • Actions we can take via Indivisible if Trump fires Mueller or Rosenstein

We are coming up on important local elections and a national atmosphere that can be frightening and frustrating. We believe that along with the women (and men) who have found and use their voices, there are many among us who are still seeking to find and use their own. If we can all get together, we can learn from each other.

Education and understanding the issues is the first step in being leaders in your own community!
