CALL TO ACTION: Scott Pruitt confirmation hearing EPA – nightmare for the environment

Scott Pruitt – who has sued the EPA, is up for a final confirmation vote to serve as the head of the EPA. The vote will be held by the Senate Friday Afternoon. At the very least, this vote should be postponed as a Judge in OK has just ruled against him and ordered him to turn over records that will show his connection to energy companies:
The lawsuit claimed that Pruitt, who has served as Oklahoma’s attorney general since 2011, had failed to respond to nine open-records requests seeking communications between his office and members of the fossil fuel industry, including Koch Industries, Peabody Energy and the National Coal Council. The requests had been filed as far back as January 2015.
And we must support the science and work of the EPA – and support the employees who are fighting his appointment:
In an unusual show of opposition for federal employees, Environmental Protection Agency workers have been calling their senators to urge them to reject President Trump’s pick to lead their agency, The New York Times reported Thursday.
Scott Pruitt, the attorney general of Oklahoma, has sued the EPA more than a dozen times in his current post, alarming many of the agency’s employees, who fear that, if confirmed, he will work to dismantle its work.

“How can Scott Pruitt be the protector of America’s water, air and health when he has so relentlessly attacked the agency in charge of providing those protections and demonstrated such disregard for these precious resources while serving as attorney general of his state?
The Guardian says it best:
If environmentalists were to sketch out the government official of their nightmares, it would likely look much like Scott Pruitt. The Oklahoma attorney general has been a raucous supporter of fossil fuel companies and repeatedly sought to hobble the public health regulations he will soon be responsible for as head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
And if that doesn’t fuel your nightmares of life with higher sealevels and more record breaking weather, this same man has sued the same agency he wants to lead. According to the Huffington Post:
…a man who has sued the agency 13 times as Oklahoma’s attorney general. Pruitt, a climate change denier with close ties to the fossil fuel industry, has a long record of attacking the EPA and undermining environmental regulations. On his LinkedIn page, Pruitt refers to himself as a “leading advocate against the EPA’s activist agenda.”
